Yirgacheffe coffee (耶加雪菲): what it tastes like and what it costs in Taiwan (2026)

Updated · by the Today's Coffee Taiwan team

Short answer: Yirgacheffe (耶加雪菲) is a coffee area in southern Ethiopia known for floral, citrus and tea-like flavors. On our list, Yirgacheffe beans cost NT$87 to NT$172 per 100 g; the lowest today is Yirgacheffe Light Roast (NT$87). Other Ethiopian beans (Guji, Sidama, Gesha…) cost NT$180 to NT$325 per 100 g. Prices checked on 21 October 2026; we check again every 3 days.

What does Yirgacheffe taste like?

Most Yirgacheffe tastes light and bright: flowers like jasmine, citrus like lemon or pomelo, black tea and honey. It is usually sold as a light roast, so it has more acidity than a chocolatey medium roast.

If you don't like sour coffee, choose a medium roast or another origin. The guide shows the softer ones.

What do G1 and G2 mean?

They are Ethiopian export grades. Graders count defects in a sample of beans: G1 has the fewest, G2 a few more. G1 usually costs more, but the grade doesn't tell you if you will like the taste. The flavor notes and the roast tell you more.

Washed or natural?

Other Ethiopian coffees

Guji and Sidama are close to Yirgacheffe and often taste similar. Gesha (藝妓) is a coffee variety known for a strong jasmine smell, and it costs more.

How to brew Yirgacheffe

It shines as a pour-over or a drip bag. A simple start: 15 g of coffee for 225 ml of water at about 90–93 °C. If it tastes too sour, grind a little finer or use slightly hotter water.

Common questions

Is Yirgacheffe sour?

It is bright, and some people taste that as sour. A medium roast or a natural process tastes rounder and sweeter.

Are 耶加雪菲 and 耶加雪啡 the same?

Yes. Both are ways to write Yirgacheffe in Chinese; some shops use 雪啡.

Is Yirgacheffe good with milk?

A light, fruity coffee can taste sour in a latte. For milk drinks, a medium or dark roast with chocolate notes usually works better.

Is Yirgacheffe cheaper at Costco?

Costco sells a Kirkland organic Ethiopia bag and CAFE!N Yirgacheffe drip bags. See Costco vs PX Mart vs momo per 100 g.

How we make these guides: every 3 days we open each coffee's page on the shop and write down the price it shows that day; the tables on this page update with it. Flavor notes come from the seller's listing; roast is our estimate. We earn a commission when you buy through our links; it never changes your price. We review this page every 3 months.
